เรื่องย่อ
ในสังคมแห่งอนาคตอันใกล้นี้ รายการ The Running Man คือรายการยอดนิยมทางโทรทัศน์ ซึ่งเป็นการแข่งขันสุดอันตรายที่ผู้เข้าแข่งขันที่รู ้จักกันในชื่อ Runners ต้องเอาชีวิตรอดใน 30 วัน โดยพวกเขาถูกล่าโดยนักฆ่ามืออาชีพ ทุกการเคลื่อนไหวจะถูกถ่ายทอดสู่สายตาสาธารณชนผู้กระ หายเลือด และในแต่ละวัน จะนำมาซึ่งเงินรางวัลก้อนโต เบน ริชาร์ดส์ (เกล็น พาวเวลล์) ชนชั้นแรงงานผู้สิ้นหวัง ซึ่งมีลูกสาวที่จะกำลังป่วย ได้ถูกโน้มน้าวโดย แดน คิลเลียน (จอช โบรลิน) โปรดิวเซอร์ผู้มีเสน่ห์แต่โหดเหี้ยมของรายการ ให้เข้าร่วมรายการนี้เป็นทางเลือกสุดท้าย แต่การต่อต้าน สัญชาตญาณ และความมุ่งมั่นของเบน ทำให้เขากลายเป็นขวัญใจแฟนๆ อย่างไม่คาดคิด และเป็นภัยคุกคามต่อทั้งระบบ เมื่อเรตติ้งพุ่งสูงขึ้น อันตรายก็เพิ่มขึ้นเช่นกัน และเบนต้องเอาชนะไม่ใช่แค่เหล่าฮันเตอร์เท่านั้น แต่ยังต้องเอาชนะทั้งประเทศที่ชอบเห็นเขาพลาดพลั้งอี กด้วย
