เรื่องราวของอดีตนายตำรวจ โชวะ ฟุจิชิมะ (Koji Yakusho) ที่ทั้งตกงานและชีวิตครอบครัวแหลกเหลวยังไม่พอ กลับยังต้องเจอเคราะห์ร้ายกรรมซัดเข้าไปอีก เมื่อวันหนึ่งข่าวร้ายเรื่องการหายตัวไปอย่างไม่ทราบ สาเหตุของ คานาโกะ (Nana Komatsu) ลูกสาวของเขา ได้มาเยือนด้วยคำขอร้องของอดีตภรรยา และความหวังที่อยากจะแก้ไขสิ่งผิดพลาดในอดีต เพื่อสร้างครอบครัวที่ “สมบูรณ์แบบ” ขึ้นมาใหม่ ทำให้ฟูจิชิมะต้องออกสืบหาเรื่องราวทั้งหมดของลูกสาว และผู้คนรอบตัวเธอที่เกี่ยวข้อง แต่เรื่องราวกลับไม่ได้ง่ายอย่างที่คิด เพราะทุกสิ่งทุกอย่างดูจะยากเย็นและพบเจอแต่ทางตันไป เสียหมด เมื่อคนที่เคยรายล้อมคานาโกะนั้น
ต่างพากันฆ่าตัวตายและหายตัวไป ตั้งแต่แฟนหนุ่มของเธอ (ฮิโตชิ โฮชิโนะ) ไปจนถึงเพื่อนสนิท (ฟูมิ นิไคโด และ มาฮิโระ ทาคาสุงิ)แต่แล้วเด็กสาวที่ชื่อว่า โมริชิตะ (ไอ ฮาชิโมโตะ) กลับปรากฏตัวขึ้น พร้อมบอกเงื่อนงำของฝันร้ายที่เขาต้องเผชิญต่อไป กับความจริงที่ว่า คานาโกะไม่ใช่คนอย่างที่พ่ออย่างเขาคิด และยิ่งเขาเสาะหาเบาะแสลึกลงไปมากเท่าไร ฟูจิชิมะ ก็ได้พบเจอกับความลับอันดำมืดซึ่งค่อยๆ เผยตัวมาทีละน้อย ความลับที่ใครๆ ก็คาดไม่ถึงว่า คานาโกะ เด็กสาวตัวเล็กๆ ธรรมดาๆ จะสามารถซ่อนความน่าสะพรึงกลัวและค?วามร้ายกาจไว้ได้ มากขนาดนี้!!!
