The Exorcist (1973) คือภาพยนตร์ที่สร้างจากเค้าโครงเรื่องจริงในเมืองเมา ท์ เรเนียร์ รัฐแมริแลนด์ เมื่อปี 1949 เมื่อมีพิธีไล่ปีศาจในร่างของ ร็อบบี มานน์ไฮม์ เด็กชายอายุ 14 ปี อันเป็นเรื่องราวโด่งดังจนทำให้ วิลเลียม ปีเตอร์ บลาตลี ต้องหยิบยกเหตุการณ์นี้มาเขียนเป็นนิยายสยองขวัญในปี 1971 และติดอันดับ Best Seller จนถูกนำมาสร้างเป็นภาพยนตร์ในปี 1973 บลาตลีได้เสนอตัวเป็นโปรดิวเซอร์ในการสร้างภาพยนตร์เ รื่องนี้ โดยมีนักแสดงนำคือ เอลเลน เบอร์สติน, ลินดา แบลร์, แมกซ์ ฟอน ซีโดว์ และเจสัน มิลเลอร์
