ไฟนอลแฟนตาซี VII แอดเวนต์ชิลเดรน เป็นภาพยนตร์ แอนิเมชัน CGI ที่สร้างจากเกม ไฟนอลแฟนตาซี VII ของ เพลย์สเตชัน ที่ประสบความสำเร็จมากที่สุดเกมหนึ่ง ซึ่งภาพยนตร์เรื่องนี้ เสนอเรื่องราวของ 2 ปีต่อมาหลังจากตอนจบเกม ภาพยนตร์จะวางแผงในรูปแบบของแผ่น ดีวีดี และ UMD ซึ่งใช้ดูกับเครื่องเกมเคลื่อนที่ PSP ปัจจุบัน ได้วางแผงใน ญี่ปุ่น ไปแล้ว และประสบความสำเร็จอย่างสูง และมีแผนจะวางแผงใน ทวีปอเมริกาเหนือ และ สหราชอาณาจักร สำหรับการวางแผงใน ญี่ปุ่น ได้มีการเลื่อนมาหลายครั้ง สร้างความผิดหวังให้กับแฟนๆ ผู้เฝ้ารออย่างมาก แต่เมื่อวางแผงจริง รูปแบบ Ultimate Edition "Advent Pieces: Limited" ที่ในชุดได้รวมภาพยนตร์แอนิเมชันโอวีเอ Last Order: Final Fantasy VII ที่ทำออกมาจำกัด ก็ได้หมดลงอย่างรวดเร็ว และเป็นที่สุดยอดปรารถนาจนมีการขายต่อกันด้วยราคาสูง กว่าราคาจริงมาก

นอกจากนี้ ไฟนอลแฟนตาซี VII แอดเวนต์ชิลเดรน ยังได้ฉายในเทศกาลภาพยนตร์ Festival Internacional de Cinema de Cataluna ที่ประเทศสเปน และได้รับรางวัล Honorary Maria Award เมื่อวันที่ 15 ตุลาคม พ.ศ. 2548
