เรื่องราวที่ย้อนเวลาไปไกลหลายศตวรรษ ที่เล่าเรื่องของ “ชาวมายา” ในหมู่บ้านแห่งหนึ่งที่รักความสงบ Jaguar Paw (ตัวเอกของเรื่อง แสดงโดย Rudy Youngblood) และ Flint Sky พ่อของเขา ระหว่างที่กำลังล่าสัตว์อยู่ ได้พบชาวเผ่าอื่น ที่กำลังอพยพ เนื่องจากเผ่าของพวกเขาโดนทำลาย และได้ขอเดินผ่านทาง ซึ่งพ่อเขาก็อนุญาต เมื่อกลับไปที่หมู่บ้าน พ่อของเขาได้บอกให้เขาอย่าได้เล่าเรื่องนี้ให้ใครฟัง และอย่าได้กลัว

ในคืนนั้นมีการเล่านิทาน และร้องรำรอบกองไฟทำให้ Jaguar Paw รู้สึกดีขึ้น ในเช้าวันรุ่งขึ้น เขาตื่นขึ้นมาจากฝันร้าย ว่ามีคนมาเผาหมู่บ้านของเขา และพบว่า กลายความฝันกลายเป็นความจริง โดยมี กลุ่มนักรบกองโจร นำโดย Zero Wolf (Raoul Trujillo) ได้เข้ามาทำลายหมู่บ้านและจับคนไปขาย Jaguar Paw ต้องส่งภรรยาของเขา Seven (Dalia Herná ndez) และลูกชายตัวน้อย Turtles Run ลงไปอยู่ในถ้ำ แล้วเขาก็กลับไปช่วยเพื่อนๆเพื่อต่อสู้ แต่ก็โดนจับจนได้ สิ่งที่สะเทือนใจคือ มีนักรบคนหนึ่งซึ่งเขาเกือบจะฆ่าได้ ชื่อ Middle Eye (Gerardo Taracena) กลายเป็นคนที่ใช้มีดปาดคอฆ่าพ่อของขาต่อหน้าเขา ระหว่างเดินทาง พวกนักรบได้พบเด็กผู้หญิงที่ติดโรคร้ายคนหนึ่ง เธอได้ทำนาย อนาคต ว่า จุดจบของพวกนักรบใกล้จะมาถึงเร็วๆนี้ โดยกลางวันจะกลายเป็นกลางคืน (สุริยะคราส) และพวกเขาจะตายโดย ชายที่มากับเสือ ติดตามได้ใน Apocalypto อะพอคคาลิพโต้ ปิดตำนานอารยชน
