Pontes Media Downloader is a small utility that helps you save your preferred media from over 400 media services like youtube.com, soundcloud, vimeo, etc.
Basically the program is an interface for two open source projects: youtube-dl - for downloading media - and ffmpeg - for converting media.



How to use the program?
With Pontes Media Downloader it is extremely easy to download media from the internet to the format of your choice:



Copy the URL of the page containing the video file to clipboard. This can be done either by opening the page in a browser and copying the address from the address bar or by using the option copy link address from the content menu of your preferred browser.
When focusing on Pontes Media Downloader, the URL from the clipboard should already be in the URL field. if not, paste it in the URL field. You can access the URL field anytime by pressing Control + L.
Select the preferred output format. No conversion will keep the original format from the Internet
Press the Download button. (Control + D)
For YouTube videos (and maybe other big online video services) you can select the preferred source format from the Source format combo box. You can get here anytime by pressing Control + F
The target folder can be changed with the Change target button.
Once started, the download can be canceled at any time by pressing the Cancel button or from the file menu accessing the Cancel current job menu accessible via the key combination Control + C .
If you choose to convert to another format after download the media file will be converted using the ffmpeg media encoder/decoder.

Multiple downloads
You can download multiple files at once in the following way:

YouTube playlists, and channels, for example are downloaded automatically, one file after another if you input the address of the respective playlist or user channel, After the first file is downloaded the program will convert it in the background wile downloading the next file, etc.
If you want to manually specify a download list you can access Download multiple clips from the File menu, (Control + M) In this text box you must specify your desired links one per line, Pressing the Start download button will download all the list.
If Download playlists in separate folder option is enabled each playlist will be downloaded in a separate folder with the name of the playlist.
Playlist downloading can be prevented by checking Prevent playlist downloads check box in the main interface or in the program options.

Program options

From the program options window (accessed from the Options menu or via Control + O key combination you can set the main program options:

Options are split into 2 tabs switchable by pressing Control + Tab:

In the General tab you can set the following options:
The target folder can be changed from the Change download folder button
Download playlist in separate folder option enables you to separate playlist items in folders with the name of the playlist. A folder will be automatically created with the name of the playlist and all the videos from the selected playlist will be downloaded and converted in that folder.
Original media can be kept after conversion by checking the Keep source media after converting check box
Temporary files belonging to unfinished downloads, (.part files) will be automatically deleted on program exit by checking Delete partially downloaded files. If you plan to download these files again you should uncheck this option because the program will resume the download from the last position
Proxy can be activated by checking Use Proxy. The fields for proxy URL and proxy port must be filled in order to use this option

In the Notifications tab you can set options related to the notification system:
System tray notifications can be activated for the following events
Multiple formats are available for a link
Download started
Download or conversion stopped
Sound volume can be changed for notifications from the volume slider
Sounds are activated by default when with the Use sounds check box
A sound is played if multiple source formats are available (Works especially on YouTube videos).
A distinct sound is played when the program starts a download
Another sound is played on process complete.
Both sounds can be activated from their check boxes, played by clicking their name and changed from their respective Change buttons
Settings will be saved only when pressing the Ok button. Pressing the Cancel button will ignore any changes excepting the download folder.
